I'm an independent consultant. I can help your organization get going with patterns. I have several patterns courses. My favorite is a two-day course that introduces patterns and then leads participants through a writing exercise. At the end, you have the beginning of a patterns repository and a collection of enthusiastic patterns fans!

I also do road shows with Mary Lynn Manns, another patterns expert and retrospectives fan. Mary Lynn and I have written: Fear Less: Patterns for Introducing New Ideas into Organizations, scheduled for publication Fall 2003.
I have a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in the area of object-based design metrics. My background includes university teaching experience as well as work in industry in the areas of telecommunications, avionics, and strategic weapons systems. I have been working with object technologies since 1983. I began my interest in patterns while I was working at AG Communication Systems, where I spent five happy and productive years.
I have presented a number of tutorials and workshops at OOPSLA and other conferences.
I live in Phoenix with my husband, Karl Rehmer, who writes compilers and debuggers for DDC-I. Karl's company sent us to Denmark for a year where we had the chance to travel and learn a lot about other cultures. We've written a lot about this experience. Send me some e-mail and I'll be happy to send you our Denmark Adventures! We are avid cyclists and hikers, even in 100+ degree temperatures. I direct the Utopia Road Recorder Consort, a group of Renaissance wannabes who gather to play and sing just for fun and perform a few times each year. We are incredibly proud of our only daughter, Amy, and her husband Brian Brown, the founders of a classic rock group in Nashville, Phoenix Rising. Check out their web site to order their latest CD!
